Lancaster University was founded in 1964 and has grown to become one of the UK’s leading academic institutions.
Lancaster University is ranked in the top one per cent of universities in the world, listed at 145 in the Times Higher Education international table and 163 in the QS World University Rankings. We have teaching and research partnerships with universities worldwide, located in China, India, Malaysia, Pakistan and the Middle East.
We are focused on research with more than 90% of this being world leading. We have a strong reputation in teaching also. There are a large range of courses from Business Studies and Economics to Linguistics and Arts.
In 2012 The Sunday Times reported that an above-average proportion of Lancaster University students get graduate-level jobs (74 per cent).
Lancaster University has strong links with business. Our career-focused courses ensure you get the skills for successful employment. Work and research placements are offered as part of most of our programmes and include work with international companies, including Ernst & Young, Microsoft, Accenture, Nokia and SAP.
Most of our students can participate in study or work placements in another country, adding a notable level of experience to their portfolio.
High Quality Facilities
Our 360-acre campus recently had £350million spent on new and improved facilities. We have great sports facilities with new pitches, a running track, basketball courts and a new £20m Sports Centre with swimming pool, fitness and weights room.
You will find many facilities located on-campus including academic departments, colleges, library, banks and shops.
Our campus is one of the safest in the UK. We have a large international community. There are nearly 2,500 international students from more than 130 countries and staff from 60 countries around the world.
International students are guaranteed on-campus accommodation. Lancaster is one of the few universities that has a colligate system. Your college will be your home for the duration of you time with Lancaster, supporting you to settle in and make friends.
Located three miles outside the historic city of Lancaster the campus provides a welcoming student experience. We are 30 minutes south of the famous national park, the Lake District. Major cities such as Liverpool, Manchester, Edinburgh and London are also easy to reach.
