Profile
The University received its Charter in 1965 - one of seven new campus universities founded in England in the sixties. Today it has an international reputation for academic excellence which is maintained by its high standards of teaching and research. It has a truly multicultural flavour with international students from over 115 nationalities  representing 25% of its 7,000 full-time student body.


There are flexible undergraduate honours degree programmes leading to BA, BBA, LLB, BSc or BEng in the three faculties of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Science, Technology and Medical Studies. Foundation programmes provide English language and/or top-up pre-degree study with successful completion assuring a degree place. There are junior year abroad programmes from October to June or April to March (including intensive English). Postgraduate research, training and coursework programmes (some incorporating a year of English for graduate study) are offered leading to degrees of MA, MSc, MBA, LLM, MPhil and PhD.

Particular strength in teaching and research has been recognised in the areas of Finance, Risk Management, Building and Surveying, and Hotel and Catering Management. We have one of the largest Health Faculties in the UK, offering all of the professions related to medicine. We have been rated 11th place out of 97 universities by employers nominating a 'premier league' of finest graduates in the UK. One-year Masters programmes are offered in the following areas: Information Management, Administration, Finance, Risk, Hospitality, Tourism, Leisure, Operations, E-Business, Development, Human Resource, Marketing, Construction, Entrepreneurial Studies MBA, Fashion Marketing, Journalism, Biomedical ACII, Rehabilitation Science, Social Science, Physiotherapy, Analytical Chemistry, Forensic Psychology, Fire Risk Engineering, Advanced Engineering Technology, Maintenance Systems, Bulk Solids, Energy and Environmental, Mathematics and Computing, Informatics, Industrial Mathematics, Logistics.

Location & Facilities
The University of Kent's self-contained rural campus within walking distance of the city of Canterbury, offers a comprehensive range of facilities - providing an ideal environment for teaching, study, research, residences and recreation - yet within easy reach of Central London and the airports, the Channel ports, Channel Tunnel and continental Europe. The University's extensive computing, library and language learning facilities are constantly being developed and expanded. The computing laboratory, one of the best in the UK, offers computing services to all areas of the campus, including networks within the library, labs, colleges and some residences. The sports centre provides excellent facilities and coaching in a wide range of sports, both indoor and outdoor. The University has its own theatre, the regions only film theatre, its own orchestra, choir and a wide range of Students' Union Societies.

Accomodation & Welfare
Overseas fee paying students are guaranteed residence in University-owned accommodation if they satisfy admissions requirements by specified dates. Accommodation is usually on campus in a single study-bedroom in college, adjacent buildings or a self-catering house in the purpose-built student village, 'Park Wood'. Some accommodation is en-suite. There is a personal tutor system and a range of welfare services including an on-campus health centre, counselling service, English language unit and study skills centre.
