Isle of Man Business School

Profile
The Isle of Man International Business School is a unique research, consultancy and advanced teaching institution focusing on international finance, banking, and insurance.


We provide full and part-time Higher Education opportunities, in a variety of flexible modes, to employers and employees from all types of business.

The International Business School’s specialist environment in a leading offshore jurisdiction enables students from all countries to follow courses and carry out research that focus directly on international finance industry.

Close to the centre of the Island’s capital, Douglas, the Nunnery Mansion House provides a prestigious Location for the International Business School’s activities.

The Nunnery was built in 1823 and the renowned as one of the Island’s finest buildings. Set in magnificent parkland next to the heart of the financial district it is the ideal environment for a Higher Education institution.

International students come from many countries around the world and other offshore jurisdictions where high quality education in international business is appreciated and valued. The Island has a very low unemployment rate and work placements are readily available as part of the course for international students.

The International Business School is at the forefront of applying new technologies and is IT intensive, offering the purpose built ‘Manx Telecom Learning Resource Centre’, a state-of-the-art IT facility. Lecture rooms and seminar rooms are well equipped for presentations and network /internet connectivity. The XKO Boardroom also offers video-conferencing facilities.

IT Training is provided for all students who wish to learn or improve skills. Students at the IBS are provided with main study texts for each module of study free of charge and the Library contains all additional recommended reading required for each programme. A directory of web-based materials is also maintained as part of the electronic library services enabling students to access academic journals and other print resources on-line. This is part of a Virtual Learning Environment using email, scheduling and conferencing software to enable staff and student communications both on and off-site.

Support & Careers
Each student has a personal tutor that they can approach if they want to talk over any issues regarding their course. Student Support Services are also available to ensure that professional help and guidance is always close at hand if needed.

The Careers Service provides students with all the help and guidance needed to ensure that their careers are on track. Students can attend workshops or one to one meetings with Careers Advisers and also have access to careers literature and interactive computer packages.
